The Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) runs a FireSmart program aiming to decrease the threat of wildfires to properties and homes through public education.
They receive funding from the Union of BC Municipalities’ Community Resiliency Fund for a wildfire threat mitigation and education campaign. This funding supports local projects that promote FireSmart principles, such as free hazard assessments and advice on reducing fire risks. The goal is to empower homeowners to enhance their resilience to wildfires in their communities. This program is accessible to all residents of the Sunshine Coast.
